The Butchart Garden Looks Forward to Spectacular Summer Evenings
Flowers at every turn, Night Illuminations, Firework Saturdays and Evening Entertainment
Victoria, B.C. – Spectacular Summer Evenings are just around the corner, with one of the most popular seasons for visitors to The Butchart Gardens.
Floral splendour greets you at every turn, with thousands upon thousands of colourful blooms.
Beginning June 15, until September 15, extended hours begin with the Admission Gate closing at 10pm, while the grounds remain open until 11pm. This is the time of Night Illuminations when, at dusk, a play of light and shadow creates a magical transition from daylight. The Dining Room and Blue Poppy Restaurant are also open for dinner during this time.
On June 30, and continuing on Saturday evenings until September 1, a Firework show of epic proportions begins once again. Choreographed to music, the pyrotechnic show is sure to delight all who see it. Showtimes vary.
Summer evenings at The Gardens fill with the sounds of live performances on the Concert Lawn stage as a mix of local musicians and world-renowned artists are showcased. Every evening from June 30 to September 1, visitors will enjoy the open air performances as part of their admission ticket. Craig Moddle, manager of Arts & Entertainment, says, ‘I am very happy with the line-up for this year. There is so much local talent and we take pride in featuring these performers each year. It is very much part of our strategy to promote local talent. In addition, we are thrilled to announce that Alan Doyle, the iconic Newfoundland singer-songwriter and best known as the lead singer of Great Big Sea, will be our Special Event on July 18th.’
Other highlights include Stephen Fearing, Russell deCarle, John Gogo, The Paperboys and the Wailin’ Jenny’s to name a few. Live performances range from big band, to jazz, to bluegrass and classical when the Victoria Symphony performs on July 27 with Tania Miller conducting.
The Butchart Gardens is an internationally renowned 55-acre (22 hectare) display garden located near Victoria, British Columbia. Created in 1904 by Jennie Butchart, and still privately owned and operated by family descendants, The Gardens has been designated a National Historic Site of Canada and welcomes over one million visitors a year.
